Every plan runs the same controller and the same app. Control always stays on the controller; a plan sets how much the cloud stores, how fast it updates, who can see it and how much help you get.

Prices in South African rand. MakeSense is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. Plans are billed monthly. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing month. Getting the logic right is often the hardest part of an installation. Assist is included in Professional and Priority assist in Business, with direct help from the people who build MakeSense.

What a plan pays for
Your controller does not depend on us. The program runs on site, and it keeps running with or without a plan or an internet connection. What costs money every month is the cloud side.
Every reading a device sends is written to a database, kept for the length of your history and sent to your phone in real time. One sensor reporting every 20 seconds produces 4,320 readings a day, close to 130,000 a month. Storage, database traffic, realtime connections and push notifications are billed to us by use, so more devices, faster readings and longer history cost more to run.
The free plan covers small installations. Paid plans cover the extra storage and traffic, and the time we spend helping you with your installation.
Common questions
Do my controllers stop if I cancel or my payment fails?
No. Automations run on the controller and keep running. Without a paid plan the account falls back to Starter limits for the cloud features.
When does a cancellation take effect?
At the end of the current billing month. You keep the plan you paid for until then.
What happens to my history if I move to a smaller plan?
When the change takes effect, readings older than the new plan's history period are removed. Export anything you want to keep before then.
Do I need a plan to buy hardware?
No. Starter is free and covers up to two devices.
Is VAT added to the price?
No. MakeSense is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. The price shown is the price you pay, in South African rand.
